Interior Ministry, ‘beware of infiltrators in universities’ – Last minute

“Particular attention is paid to preventing subjects outside the university world from infiltrating demonstrations for the sole purpose of exploiting dissent, fueling forms of violence which, by their nature, are incompatible with the free expression of thought”. Thus the Interior Ministry concluded the meeting of the National Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in the presence of the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, with the participation of the vice-president of Conference of the rectors, Francesco Bonini and the leaders of the police forces and intelligence.

“Careful monitoring was carried out of the numerous events which, after the crisis in the Middle East, are affecting Italian universities, and during which critical issues were only recorded in a limited number of cases.

During the meeting, the fruitful collaboration between rectors and representatives of the police forces was highlighted, thanks to which it was possible to limit tensions”, says the Ministry of the Interior, which concludes: “also in light of what has emerged so far, it was shared the need to continue with effective mediation activities by university leaders and police forces to prevent repercussions on public order”.
