Carpi Calcio, the long history of the red and whites

Carpi is a more than one hundred year old football team that from its excellence managed to reach Serie A with Fabrizio Castori who led the Emilians in their first historic promotion to Serie A. On the 3rd day of the 2015-2016 Serie A championship, after the defeats with Sampdoria and Inter, Carpi obtained the first point in its history in the top flight, thanks to a 2-2 draw against Palermo. In 2017 it went bankrupt and in 2021 it was refounded by Claudio Lazzaretti, and from that moment Carpi restarted from Serie D. In the 2022/2023 season it finished third with 59 points behind Pistoiese and Giana Erminio. In the 2023/2024 season he came first with 68 points ahead of Ravenna and Corticella. We like Carpi because going to the Sandro Cabassi stadium we became fond of many players, for example Simone Saporetti, Massimiliano Rossi and Tommaso Cecotti. Throughout its history, Carpi has had many protagonists, Vid Belec, who remained in Carpi’s posts until 2017. With a 3-5-2 formation, Carpi fields Simone Romagnoli as a central defender.

On his right we have Cristian Zaccardo and on his left Riccardo Gagliolo. Now we move on to the midfield with Raffaele Bianco next to him we find Lorenzo Lollo and on his right Isaac Confie. Gaetano Letizie who played at Carpi as a left winger while, on the opposite flank, there is Antonio Di Gaudo. In the offensive department we find Simone Verdi and alongside him Jerry Mbakogu and we conclude the 2015 lineup with Kevin Lasagna.

The current lineup is made up of young talents from very important teams: coach Cristian Serpini fields Lorenzo Viti between the posts, on his right we find Nicolò Verza, as central defender we have captain Alessandro Calanca and on his left Gianluca Zucchini. As right back we remember Rodrick Tcheuna; moving to midfield with Marco Forapani, Andrea Mandelli and finally Massimiliano Rossi. As regards the attack, the players are: Matteo Cortesi, the striker Simone Saporetti and we conclude the formation with Abdoulaye Sall. Footballers who played at Carpi and subsequently became internationally renowned champions are Simone Inzaghi and Marco Materazzi: they started their career for the Carpi youth team and then went to play on loan at Piacenza and then became a Lazio legend, Materazzi was luckier by going directly to Inter to be one of the strongest defenders in the world, also winning a World Cup in 2006 with Italy.

For us, Carpi is a club that should compete in Serie B or Serie A, as we believe it has strong players with the right mentality to make it, as a team but also as a youth sector.
