UDINE. The Dr. Stefano Maurowell-known anesthetist from Udine, he passed away at the age of 58 last Friday, after a long battle with an illness diagnosed two years ago. His passing leaves an unfillable void not only in the medical community but also among numerous patients who were lucky enough to meet him. On the epigraph the family addressed a thought of healthcare personnel which accompanied him in the last period, in fact we read: «A special thanks to Dr. Simona Rizzato, Dr. Maria Grazia Fabiani and all the Hospice staff”. Native of Udine, Dr. Mauro spent his childhood in the heart of the city, and then moved to Fagagna during his adolescent years. After completing his studies at scientific high school, he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps by enrolling in the Faculty of Medicine in Bologna. Once he obtained his degree, he did not hesitate to return to Udine to start his career, specializing in Anesthesia.
A constant and dedicated commitment
His professional commitment at the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital was exemplary: over twenty years of service in the operating room and intensive care. There wife Tiziana, also an anesthetist, he remembers with emotion the first meetings during the specialization period and the shared life, made up of professional challenges and family moments. Stefano was a point of reference for many, always ready to offer a word of comfort or a smile, making him a loved and respected professional.
The last farewell
The funeral will be held tomorrow Tuesday at 3.30pm in the cathedral, a moment to salute a man who dedicated his life to the well-being of others, leaving a profound mark on the community. Stefano leaves behind his wife Tiziana, his teenage daughter Sofia, his mother Elvia, his brother Federico and a wide circle of relatives and friends who shared his life and professional journey.
