CARPI. Around 400 people attended on Saturday 11 May Carpi to the “reparative procession” organized by Scopelli committee of Reggio Emilia to «make up for the 47 days of opening to the public of the blasphemous Carpi exhibition».

THE “GRATIA PLENA” EXHIBITION

The case, as is known, concerns the exhibition of the exhibition “Gratia Plena” by the artist Andrea Saltini, strongly criticized by various religious fundamentalist groups and committees.

The exhibition was closed in mid-April, following the artist’s decision after the attack suffered inside the church of Sant’Ignazio by a man, not yet identified, who had previously defaced the work “Inri-San Longino” .

On Saturday 11 May, therefore, a crowd of people flooded the streets of Carpi to send a further message, “probably the last, it was the final religious function”, as he explains Cristiano Lugli of the Scopelli Committee.

THE “RESTORATIVE PROCESSION”

The procession lasted an hour and a half, starting from Carpi cemetery and winding in Corso Alberto Piopassing by Martyrs Square and concluding with a prayer to Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyolaright where the exhibition was displayed.

«The people of Carpi welcomed us by standing up as the procession passed, and many also took part. It was an orderly and peaceful demonstration: this is the final chapter of our reparative action.”
