Nino Barillà, captain of the Reggio Calabriaspoke in the press room after the victory on the Vibonese pitch:
“We know that Vibonese is a strong and technical team, we tried to raise the pace to put them in difficulty. We suffered a bit at the end, but we had a couple of opportunities to double the lead. It’s a satisfaction for all of us, the team hasn’t given up an inch. I’m not thinking about the personnel, but about the collective, it doesn’t matter who scores the goals, but the only thing that matters is getting Reggina back to where they deserve“.
Barillà adds: “Speaking with my teammates during the week I said that the playoffs are a tournament in themselves. During the season we were good at keeping the pace high, now in these playoffs we are trying to raise the bar to get some satisfaction that we lacked in the championship“.
Second half a bit slow for the Amaranths: “They are the dynamics of the match, sometimes you attack and sometimes you suffer. It’s important to suffer together, we didn’t give up an inch, we fought ball after ball. We conceded little to Vibonese, perhaps a few long balls“.
Captain Amaranth continues: “We wanted to prove something, we seemed to have performed against the top teams in the class, except in Vibo in March. We wanted a rematch, we never gave up, the right opportunity came along“.
