An unprecedented opponent for Benevento, who finds Triestina from the play-off pot. A team dripping with glory with its 28 participations in the A championship and 26 in B, but which has been struggling in the third series for a while, especially after the failure of 2012 (last series B).
This season sees yet another corporate turnaround with the arrival of an American fund LBK Capital LLC, led by Ben Rosenzweig. Bench entrusted to Attilio Tesser who returns to the red halberd after twenty years. At the beginning of February, however, there is the sensational divorce with the team in third place. The bench is entrusted to the already halberd (as a player and as a coach) Roberto Bordin.
The halberd team finished the championship in fourth place (16 points behind Mantua), totaling 64 points. A diametrically opposite path at home and away: at the “Rocco” he obtained just 27 points, with 7 wins, 6 draws and 6 defeats. In away games, however, the progress is exceptional; 12 victories, only one draw and 6 defeats, 37 points like those of Mantua who rose to Serie B. They did not end the season in a brilliant way, given that in the last 6 matches they achieved 2 victories, 2 draws and as many defeats, totaling just 7 points. Even in the group round against Giana Erminio it did not arouse chants of admiration, in fact most of the fans admitted that Gorgonzola’s team would have deserved more and above all they were deprived of a goal that was perhaps valid (despite the VAR).
In the halberd ranks there is also a former Giallorossi player, Andrea Vallocchia from Rieti, a 27-year-old left-footed midfielder who played for the Benevento youth team from 2013 to 2015.
