Sea not suitable for swimming in two places in Salerno. Good news for Maiori, Minori and Cetara

Arpac technicians have confirmed that the beaches east of the Irno river and between the Fuorni and Picentino rivers are not suitable for swimming. However, the other city beaches have been declared suitable for swimming. Even in other parts of the province, where previous sampling had revealed pollution above legal limits, the situation has improved. La Città writes it today on newsstands.

328 ordinary and 71 extraordinary withdrawals were carried out from the Arpac provincial departments of Caserta, Naples and Salerno. Some samples showed microbiological values above the limits, but thanks to additional sampling many beaches were reopened for bathing.

For example, Maiori and Minori, initially classified as “poor”, are now considered suitable for bathing after interventions on the sewerage network and purification plants. In Cetara, the ban was lifted after a few days of verification and the removal of the polluting causes.

Even in the Piana del Sele, the temporary bans were lifted after the improvement in water quality. In particular, the beaches of the municipalities of Eboli and Capaccio, near the mouth of the Sele river, are now considered suitable for bathing after some samples taken at the beginning of May.
