BARI – Wednesday’s hearing before the Prevention Court could be postponed. But in the meantime the Amtab wants to appear before the judges demonstrating that it has done everything possible to remove the situations which, on 26 February, led the judges to order the judicial administration due to infiltration by organized crime. And this is why, in recent days, the company has started to dismiss the two employees who ended up in prison in the Internal Code operation because they were accused of having forced the hiring of people close to the Parisi clan in the Japigia neighbourhood.

Massimo Parisi, brother of clan leader Savino, and Tommaso Lovreglio, nephew-in-law of the boss, both have no criminal record. The DDA accuses both of them of mafia-style criminal association, extortion and fiduciary registration of assets: they would have been the clan’s bridgeheads in the transport company, so much so as to force the board of directors at the time led by president Pierluigi Vulcano to hire (even if for a few days) relatives and associates of the Parisi. This is also the complaint that Amtab, through the lawyer Elio Vulpis, made to the two employees who had already been suspended following the arrest. In the February operation, two other Amtab employees were arrested, accused of crimes unrelated to the company: but the company is considering throwing them out too.
