Rewarded i winners of the 29th edition of the “Giovanni da Legnano” poetry and fiction prize which this year saw the participation of ben 135 school students secondary schools of the Districts of Legnano, Parabiago, Castano Primo, Busto Arsizio, Magenta. An edition that saw the return of friendship and relationshipsa constant thematic reference in the works presented by young people, and the celebration of Centenary of the city of Legnano.

«If, to refer to a well-known adage, the important thing is to participate, then the numbers of Giovanni da Legnano, again this year, demonstrate without a shadow of a doubt that in young people the desire to compete with traditional literary forms it really doesn’t hold, despite the clichés that have millennials bent over typing and chat on their technological devices. It is a confirmation that does not surprise us – is the comment of the mayor Lorenzo Radice and the councilors Guifo Bragato and Ilaria Maffei -: you reap precisely what you sow when, to support it, there is a strong conviction like the one that has led for 29 years to This is the part of the Legnanese family to focus on the children of our schools, stimulating their desire to express themselves and enhancing their potential”.
Furthermore, Giovanni da Legnano has always talked about the kids, their expectations, hopes, desires, aspirations, joys and problems: «This award – the mayor and councilors underlined – in the years that we have just left behind, has opened a glimpse of great interest into the experiences of young people during the Covid period and the consequences that the pandemic has had on them. In this edition the most recurring core of interest is friendship, an indication of a normality that is slowly recovering”. «Through the writings of young authors – also underlined by Monsignor Angelo Cairati -: the value of the word as a bridge of relationship between people is reaffirmed, as a tool for sharing ideas and passions, as a way of comparing opinions in mutual respect».
In the Award there is also space for the event that characterizes 2024 in Legnano, the Centenary of elevation to the rank of City, to which a section has been dedicated.
The children’s writings were read by Luciano Mastellari with musical interventions by Giacomo Cultaro. Born in 1996, he studied violin at the Jubilate music school in Legnano

He wins section A (2nd grade secondary school) of the Filippo Carmina poetry prize with “Daddy comes back soon” from the Bernocchi institute.
The winner of section B (lower secondary school) is Emma Giannuzzi with “Focolare 2.0”, Barbara Melzi institute.

Anna Amendolagine wins with “Understanding when it all began…” from the Galileo Galilei high school in Legnano.
Section B (secondary school 1)
Lavinia Garbagnati wins with “the relay” of the Bonvesin de la Riva middle school.
Historical fiction
Section A (secondary school of 2)
Tecla Mocchetti wins with “A memorable day” from the Galilei high school.
Section B (secondary school 1)
Alessandro Candiano wins with “In pugnam et fulgor” from the Franco Tosi middle school.
For the centenary of the city, an ad hoc section “Centenary of the city of Legnano” was created: the children were asked to choose whether to participate with a story or a poem.

He wins Asia Baglivo with “An uncertain future” by the Istituto Dell’Acqua.
Section B
He wins Giulio Cantarella with “I am a beautiful house” by the Tirinnanzi – Kolbe Institute”
Delivered a recognition to the school that has demonstrated greater commitment and who presented a greater number of papers. It’s about the Franco Tosi middle school, which also had the highest number of winners
