The American Sebastian Korda beats Flavio Cobolli in three sets at the Internazionali in Rome. There is great competitive tension between the two tennis players, but also some sporting tension linked to football.
Cobolli is notoriously a great Roma fan as he himself recalled in the conference: «I heard from some Roma players, they were disappointed too but sometimes credit must be given to the opponent. Both Roma and I faced a stronger opponent. We’ll try to do it again next year. Then I hope that Roma goes to the Champions League.” At the end of the match Korda cheered with a defiant “Go Juve!”.
The American tennis player then explained himself. The crowd supported the home champion at all times, targeting Korda to make him nervous and his celebration was aimed at them. «The guys behind me used offensive and inappropriate terms against me, against my family and against my team for two and a half hours, thank you for giving me extra motivation»
An affront in Cobolli’s house that he didn’t understand, and he was a little surprised when he found out: “I hadn’t heard, I won’t comment, I’ll tell him later”
