There is an alert in several schools in the area, some pupils from schools in Cesena and Forlì felt ill after eating cherry tomatoes during snack time. The food was not consumed in the canteen, but during a snack that was provided as part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s food project, ‘Fruits and Vegetables at School’.
Some pupils reportedly felt illnesses compatible with food poisoning, four children sought hospital treatment at Bufalini although fortunately no serious situations were reported. The food problem is linked to a supply distributed yesterday.

Based on what we learn, the cases occurred in the Don Oreste Benzi school in Forlì, the Calisese elementary school and in other schools in Montiano and Savignano. Investigations by the Romagna Local Health Authority are underway, four children were taken to the Cesena emergency room for precautionary reasons. The problem is not caused by a chemical substance but rather by the type of product. It is not excluded that other local schools are involved. A food poisoning is suspected and detailed results on the food analyzed will be available in the next few days.
The problem, the Municipalities involved specify, does not depend on supplies that are part of the school meals managed by the Municipalities, as the snacks in this case arrive packaged directly by the Ministry of Agriculture contractor. The same ministry today ordered the suspension of two fruit and milk projects in schools as a precaution.
