It was presented at the Council Room of the Campania Region headquarters in via Santa Lucia in Naples, “PaNeapolis” there five days which, in addition to offering an overview across the entire bread supply chain (from the cultivation of wheat to the production of artisan bread), will look at social issues and legality, involving many third sector associations.

The event, in collaboration with Sa-Car, Bakers Association, Asso.Gio.Ca, Progetto Uomo social cooperative, AMD Association of Diabetologists, Fipgc, is sponsored by the Campania Region, Municipality of Naples, Metropolitan City of Naples, Department of Agriculture of the University Federico II of Naples, Municipality of Foglianise, Monti Lattari Foundation, Unipan, CSV. Artistic consultancy by Gianni Simioli.

The inauguration is set for Wednesday 15 Mayat 4.30 pm, in Piazza Mercato in Naples.

«In Campania, in each locality we have a different variety of bread. There is a law that regulates the activity of bakers. Today we should do training and retraining and we are considering a supply chain academy where young people will be involved but which will also be useful for bakers to learn how to use robotics and digitalisation”, Councilor for Productive Activities of the Campania Region, Antonio Marchiello.

«The value of this initiative goes beyond the intrinsic meaning of bread, which is nourishment, but is also culture, tradition, sharing, building relationships and sociality. For this reason, I was immediately concretely and actively involved alongside Unipan, which organizes this event.” To say it is Roberta Gaetaregional councilor of Demos-Green Europe and vice-president of the Agriculture commission, speaking at the press conference of “PaNeapolis”which will be held in Naples from 15 to 19 June.

«There could not be a more suitable place than Piazza Mercato, a historic square in Naples. It is important to talk about all the excellences of the area, including the peculiarity of the Foglianise Wheat Festival of which tourists will also be able to have an idea. Unfortunately, we remain the city with the highest unemployment rates and the Municipality of Naples intends to bring together supply and demand for work in the white art sector. The Municipality of Naples is there”, Councilor for Youth Policies and Work of the Municipality of Naples Chiara Marciani.

«We do not exclusively represent scientific dissemination but also the comparison with the world of entrepreneurship and work. This morning I was reflecting on the Bread-Peace association: there cannot be one without the other. The protection of tradition cannot fail to include innovation, remaining in the wake of what the art of bread has developed over the course of history” said the professor of agricultural genetics at the University of Naples Federico II, Edgardo Filipponedelegate to the Third Mission of the Director of the Department of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II, prof. Danilo Ercolini

«The training courses must be carried out in bakeries, the places where the teachers and the hotel institutes are located are a driving force with a three-year training from grain to bread. Bread is a product donated by Mother Nature and the baker is the guardian of this tradition. Artisan bread-making is dying but the epicenter of the world is bread, so it is very important that the political world is listening to us today.” President UNIPAN Campania, Domenico Filosa.

«This event brings bread, the basic food of our diet, to the streets for the first time in Naples. Each day is structured with seminars, workshops, book presentations and concerts. Bread unites everyone and we did it by involving schools, associations, families, children, bakers and artists in Piazza Mercato”, Luigi MolfettaSiriovents.

Also present at the press conference were the mayor of Foglianise, Giovanni Mastrocinque, Roberto De Laurentiispresident of the Borgo Orefici Consortium and member of the Confcommercio Campania Council, Pina D’Alessio And Pasquale Guida Dagu Europrogetti, Gianfranco Wurzburgerpresident of Asso.Gio.Ca.

The project starts from the will of Domenico Filosapresident of the UNIPAN Association, which in collaboration with the Municipality of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, has already created HapPANEss, the famous bread festival of the Vesuvian municipality, the place where the Citadel of Bread and Legality will be built.

85% of the bread consumed in Italy is fresh and artisanal. The data was revealed by Cerved research presented at Sigep, the international bakery, pastry and ice cream exhibition.

In southern Italy there are approximately 23,500 bakeries, of which 5 thousand in Campania alone. Bread is therefore a precious jewel to be known, but also to be protected and promoted. In southern Italy, this event is unique in its kind because it combines tradition, knowledge and promotion: those who participate in the party can taste good bread accompanied by native products from the southern regions, offering the exhibitor the opportunity to make their product known to new potential consumers and tourists.

PaNeapolis it has just that objective, give the right light both to a sector that works hard every day, and to the excellent quality products used by the same sector, with the ultimate aim of raising consumer awareness towards conscious and healthy choices. Quality bread is a “passport” to good health, it is the most important food because it has all the nutritional properties necessary for daily needs: proteins, phosphorus, sugars, zinc, mineral salts, calcium, fiber and carbohydrates.

The PaNeapolis project of tourism-gastronomic promotion actively involves not only the world of baking, but also the world of training and schools which will be an active part. Students will be shown both the job opportunities available in the sector and “the principles of healthy eating” to avoid running into health problems. The event, therefore, will not only be tasting, but a moment of aggregation and community with the involvement of primary and secondary schools, science communicators, third sector bodies, with the aim of creating moments of cultural in-depth analysis supported by scientific studies illustrated by industry experts.

PaNeapolisa project by Dagu Europrogetti, promoted by UNIPAN with the organizational coordination of Sirioevents, is divided into different areasone dedicated to conferences, one to entertainment, one for laboratories, and a vast exhibition area with around 30 gazebos, which will host associations, representatives of the various regions, territorial entities with a strong cultural impact.
