OLBIA. The completion of the redevelopment of the stretch of seafront between the monument to the victims of the flood in via Escrivà and the root of pier 1 bis closes the restoration of the road surface of the port of Olbia.

“We are in the midst of an important phase of infrastructural adaptation for the port of Olbia – he explains Massimo Deiana, President of the AdSP of the Sea of Sardinia –. In a few months and while waiting to obtain the coveted authorizations to be able to start strategic interventions such as the dredging of the port basin, the lengthening of Pier 9 and the construction of the necessary landfills, the Authority has started a redevelopment and reorganization of the pier White Island that can best combine operational needs, safety and greater liveability and usability of port spaces.

A modern and functional port – continues Deiana – which, with the creation of green areas and the redevelopment of a stretch of waterfront, comes even closer to the city and offers a fascinating visiting card of Sardinia to the millions of tourists who pass through it annually”.

Approximately 50 thousand square meters of port space underwent radical maintenance (in addition to the equally large portion completed in 2022). Access and exit roads from the gates, pre-boarding and parking areas for heavy vehicles have been entirely restored and reorganized with a more effective redistribution of the stalls for semi-trailers and the internal lanes of the operational areas.

Last but not least, the stretch at the root of the White Island, where the AdSP has redeveloped a large portion
of seafront between pier 1 bis and via Escrivà which, with a view to integrating the urban fabric – port,
it gives back to the community and the seaside community a new space in continuity with the recent one
redeveloped to house the monument to the victims of the flood of 18 November 2013.

Interventions worth 900 thousand euros, these, which are part of the more substantial package of 20 million
euro foreseen in the four framework agreements for the ports of Northern Sardinia, awarded in 2023 for interventions
relating to road works, green areas and street furniture, maritime works and maintenance of buildings and systems
technological.
