Santa Rufina, theft of copper from the aggregates under reconstruction

L’AQUILA – Theft of copper in Santa Rufina di Roio, stolen from the units under reconstruction.

A report from copper theft comes from Santa Rufina di Roio. During yesterday’s night, unknown persons stole the end parts of the downpipes installed on the new aggregates of the post-earthquake reconstruction undergoing external renovation. The copper parts were removed at “head height”, only in the terminal part.

“Yet another attempted theft in Roio, this time relating to the copper descendants at a newly renovated aggregate in the hamlet of Santa Rufina, – writes the city councilor in this regard Stefano Palumbo – brings to attention the need to combat an increasingly widespread phenomenon with all possible tools. Many citizens, for example, complain among the various factors that make our towns unsafe, in addition to the degradation they are experiencing, also the lack of lighting, an issue for which I have acted as spokesperson on several occasions. Yet, the installation of new light points within the historic centers under reconstruction was one of those contained in an agenda presented in 2022 by some majority councilors and voted unanimously. What has been done in these 2 years? How many of those directions expressed by the council have been implemented? One thing is certain, the situation requires the city government to make up for lost time and provide the answers that the residents of the hamlets and historic center of L’Aquila have been waiting for too long now.”
