OLBIA. From today the Mater Olbia Hospital has a new chapel for worship and prayer. The space of the Olbia hospital was created in memory of Roberto Conca passed away in December 2023.
The chapel was in fact set up, from the wooden walls to the benches, up to the confessionals and floors, thanks to the donation of the Milanese entrepreneur who had been treated at the Mater during his illness. Conca was very close to Sardinia. Here he spent his summers with his family and this is the land where he had chosen to stay until a month before his death.
This morning, at the inauguration of the chapel blessed by the bishop of the Diocese of Tempio-Ampurias, mgr. Roberto Fornaciariwho celebrated mass together with the parish priest of San Simplicio Don Antonio Tamponihis family members were also presidents.
The grandson Jessica Messa read a letter written by Roberto Conca’s daughter, Elizabeth. “My dad was an incredible man – he said -. He loved to give to everyone, unconditionally. This little church also wanted to talk about him and here we are to thank him for this gesture.”
At the celebration, accompanied by the tenor’s songs Matthew Dorethe mayor of Olbia also participated, Seventh Nizzithe CEO of Mater Olbia, Marcello Giannicoand the operations director Marco Salvagno, together with doctors and hospital administrators. The chapel inaugurated this morning adds to the ecumenical one already present in the structure.
