Syracuse basketball recruit Sadiq White moves to 5 stars, plans to officially visit

Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, NC, an elite 2025 prospect who has unofficially visited Syracuse basketball twice and has the Orange among his seven finalists, is now rated five stars, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

When I wrote this article on Thursday night, the 6-foot-8 forward checked in as five stars, No. 23 nationally, No. 7 at power forward and No. 1 in North Carolina within his cycle, per the 247Sports Composite.

All of the primary recruiting services, within the 2025 class, place White as a top-35 national prospect (or higher) as well as a top-10 forward.

White is off to a fast start on the AAU circuit this spring and carrying on into the summer while competing for the 17U squad of the Charlotte, NC-based Team United in Nike’s EYBL league.

Thus far, during the EYBL’s two sessions in Memphis, Tenn., and the Atlanta area, White is averaging 14.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

He’s received high marks to date from national analysts and scouts on the EYBL circuit, with On3 expert Jamie Shaw recently saying, “In a gym filled with athletes, you notice 6-foot-7 forward Sadiq White’s explosion. Where he has done a good job finding his niche is on the defensive end. While his skill set continues to round out, he has natural instincts in the passing lanes and as a weak-side shot blocker.”

In late March, White disclosed a final top seven of the ‘Cuse, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgetown, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas. Recently media reports have stated that since Eric Musselman has moved on from Arkansas to take the head-coaching position at Southern California, USC has jumped into White’s top seven while the Razorbacks are no longer on his list than him.

The Orange staff offered a scholarship to White in April of 2023. He’s a priority recruit for the ‘Cuse in this class, having unofficially visited Syracuse basketball in mid-September of last year and in late February of this year.

White has said more than once in interviews that he has a solid relationship with Orange head coach Adrian Autry and assistant coach Brenden Straughn, although White also noted he had been forming a good relationship with Gerry McNamara, the former Syracuse basketball associate head coach who recently became Siena’s head coach.

Recently, I’ve come across several reports from recruiting analysts stating that White is looking to start setting up some campus visits soon, and that he plans to take official visits to all seven of his finalists.

White, by the way, has said in the past that he would “definitely” take an official visit to Syracuse basketball. Stay tuned on that.

In the recently completed 2023-24 high school season, per MaxPreps, White as a junior averaged 16.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for Myers Park High School in Charlotte, a powerhouse program that finished 27-3 overall and was ranked in the top- 25 nationally by several media outlets.

Last month, MaxPreps disclosed its 2023-24 junior All-America teams, doling out an honorable-mention nod to White.
