Terni. Santa Maria, the dance of interim appointments continues Giacomo Pucci takes Medicine

Movements are still underway in Umbrian healthcare while the agreement stipulated between the University and the Region does not seem, at least so far, to have hit the right gear and we continue to move forward with head doctors appointed on an interim basis while awaiting the competitions. The twist concerns the Umbrian oncology network: after just five months from office, the oncologist Fausto Roila was removed and replaced by his colleague from Terni Sergio Bracarda, head of Oncology and Translation as well as head of the department. In the national field, Dr. Bracarda is also a luminary, particularly in the treatment of prostate tumors. All this while at the Terni hospital we continue to move forward in the management of the complex structures with interim roles. The first appointment was that of Professor Giuseppe Ambrosio who moved from Perugia to Terni and is currently acting head of cardiology. And we continue to move forward like this with the appointment of professionals for the roles of head physician also in the other two university-run departments. As in Cardiology with D’Ambrosio, also in this case the managers are interim. This is Professor Arcangelo Liso who arrived from the Perugia hospital and is an expert in blood diseases. He will take care of Oncohaematology after the acting Angelo Genua resigned and was subsequently given the role of simple clinical Oncohaematology structure. For Liso the assignment will last nine months which can be extended for up to another six months until a definitive head physician is found. «The university apicality – we read in the Santa Maria resolution – in order to ensure continuity in the care tasks of the health services and avoid organizational inconveniences». The agreement between the Region and the University, so far, has only churned out term leaders and this is certainly not a positive thing for the future of the Terni hospital which needs definitive appointments in order to face the future program in full autonomy and responsibility. The other university professor who will fill the role of acting is Giacomo Pucci (in the photo) who already works at Santa Maria, specializes in internal medicine and is a national expert for what concerns blood pressure. Pucci’s interim replacement role concerns Internal and Translational Medicine. The professor takes the place of Luca Di Cato who has been appointed head of Rheumatology. The University of Perugia in agreement with the Region then places three university students in as many important complex structures awaiting the final competitions. There are still complex university structures where the respective heads will soon be appointed: these are Dermatology and Infectious Diseases.
