“People with administrative experience and many new faces” says Cecilia Del Re, promoter of the Firenze Demovratica civic list. “A team with which we can make a difference.”
“A non-random location This square was the scene of a bottom-up redevelopment, which I promoted when I was a councilor. We managed to actively involve the community and transform a non-place into a kaleidoscope of colors, functional to making it alive and experienced. They are the colors that give energy to cities and the Firenze Democratica list wants to be this too, a mix of participation, vision and new and fresh skills for the public city”. Cecilia Del Re, candidate for mayor and leader of Firenze Democratica, said this when presenting the lists for the municipal council and for the districts.
Eighteen women and eighteen men, running for the next municipal council, plus the members of the other 5 lists for the neighborhood councils. Over one hundred candidates in total, presented by Del Re herself in Piazza Valdelsa, in the Novoli district. The head of the list of Democratic Florence will be its president, Gea Volpe, environmental engineer, feminist and aid worker, who will be flanked by two well-known faces of Florentine politics: Alessandro Martini, former PD provincial councilor and former director of Caritas Florence and Leonardo Calistri, agronomist, councilor outgoing municipal councilor and former president of the Agriculture Commission.
“We have put together a wonderful team and I am honored that people of caliber, and young people eager to change Florence, have believed in me and in our project – adds Del Re -. Vision, competence and strong territorial roots were the characteristics we wanted for our lists. And we can say without fear of contradiction that we succeeded. With this team, building a public city and making a difference is truly possible.”
“The Firene Democratica list – explains Del Re – represents the photograph of the city. He has a progressive and Catholic-reformist soul, but he is also an example of a broad field. It has values well rooted in the centre-left field, but it has a drive for innovation, research and sustainability that make it capable of developing development projects with a metropolitan and European vision. People who make politics a passion, certainly not a job. People without political godfathers who recognized themselves in the Democratic Florence project and who wanted to bring further value to this project with their contributions and their presence. Putting your face on it.”
