Second weekend of May which promises to be with significantly rising temperatures after the rainy mid-week start, probably the last, before definitively projecting us towards the summer season. “Urban Fest” returns to Via Atenea and recorded record attendance in the inaugural days, filling the city center as it hadn’t happened for a very long time. Under the colorful umbrellas, many entertainment activities that combine live music and DJ sets, folklore, authentic flavors and the entertainment of street artists. At the Pirandello theater the season will end with Pippo Pattavina starring in “Pensaci, Giacomino!”, thus paying homage to the playwright from Agrigento for the closing of the program. The curtain will also reopen at the Circolo Empedocleo with the satirical show “Sandro Cabaret” by Mario Gaziano. And again the Sunday trek to discover the “Mouth of the Platani River” nature reserve and then there will be the first of three weekends to discover the “Treasure Villages”. There will also be space for cinema with the preview screening of Leandro Picarella’s new film “Segnali di vita” at the Ciak multiplex. And the “ApriMay” event will return to OceanoMare with a new event on the beach, this time dedicated to Massimiliano Troiani of Radio Capital who, on the console, will play the music he likes most until sunset. In Siculiana the opening of the new widespread museum which recalls the historic marriage of Costanza and Brancaleone Doria.

In Via Atenea the second weekend of Urban Fest
The festival that combines art, music, food, folklore and entertainment in the heart of the city of temples offers another 3 days of events, from 7pm until midnight. Friday 10 May “Urban aperitif” and the “Fire Spot” show with fire performances by the Joculares company. Followed by the DJ set with Andrea Cassaro, the impromptu street painters’ “Canvas di sera” and the show “L’ombelico del mondo” with the “Tammura di Girgenti”. Saturday 11 May “Aperifood” with “Mortazza and bubbles”. Then the show “Walts and Confetti” followed by the DJ set with Zeus. Sunday 12 May “Urban aperitif” and live music.

Sixth appointment with ApriMay, the festival on the beach of Oceanomare, in San Leone, which hosts several artists from the Italian music scene: they talk about themselves on stage and offer a selection of the music most dear to them in a DJ set version. ApriMay, created in collaboration with Aranciamara, this year entrusts the hosting to Riccardo GaZ who interviews live the guests who will be involved in a talk before performing a DJ set. On Sunday 12 May, on the Oceanomare stage, at 6pm there will be Massimiliano Troiani, DJ producer among the most appreciated music selectors of Radio Capital.
The new film by Leandro Picarella at the Ciak cinema
The new film directed by Leandro Picarella is entitled “Signs of Life” and will be presented on Sunday 12 May at 8.45pm at the Ciak cinema in Agrigento. This is an initiative promoted by Imagine Aps and John Belushi Arci. The event marks the director’s return to his hometown, where he will be present to introduce his latest work and dialogue with the public. After the presentation in autumn at the Rome Film Festival and the important recognition at the Trento Film Festival (audience award for best feature film), Leandro Picarella’s film arrives in theaters in Agrigento.

Sunday trekking on the best beaches of Agrigento

Mario Gaziano’s new artistic project which will be staged at the Circolo Empedocleo in Agrigento, in Piazza San Giuseppe (via Atenea), on 10 May at 6.15pm is entitled “Sandro Cabaret – Characters in satire”. Protagonists Sandro Re and maestro Tonino Migliaccio. This is an event included in the seventh edition of the “Chamber Theatre” season with the artistic direction of Gaziano himself and Giuseppe Adamo.
In Siculiana the re-enactment of a historic wedding
On Friday 10 May at 8.30 pm, in Siculiana, the widespread museum “Lo Sposalizio Benedetto” will be inaugurated, an urban and cultural regeneration project to tell the story of the historic marriage of Costanza and Brancaleone Doria. History and legend meet and intertwine with an itinerary that winds through the alleys of the historic center of the “City of the newlyweds”.
