PALERMO – In Palermo there are a thousand building areas. This is what emerges from a research carried out by the Municipality’s Urban Planning, Heritage and Taxes offices.
The Administration’s attention is focused on IMU collections. The census allowed an estimate of the property value and the related tax.
The study was transformed into a resolution, approved by the council, which updates the values and could lead to an increase in the IMU for the owners of the surveyed building areas.
The value of the areas was obtained by consulting sector magazines including the real estate market, from the real estate observatory drawn up by the Ministry of Finance, from the commercial transactions and from the tenders for the search for areas in the various reference areas into which the city has been divided.
“This is a check never carried out before by the municipal administration which takes into consideration around a thousand areas and follows up on an action prescribed by the rebalancing plan signed by the Municipality, also guaranteeing a principle of fairness”, states mayor Roberto Lagalla.
For Budget Councilor Brigida Alaimo “it is a resolution that takes on a novel value for the Municipality, distancing itself from the previous administration which complained about a lack of revenue, but which did not take measures to increase it.
The resolution guarantees the principle of fairness because it has the objective of making everyone pay the tax and not just the usual suspects. Finally, conciliatory measures are envisaged. Another objective is to avoid new disputes, protecting the organization and the citizens”.
