With 1,481,114,745 euros of added value generated by tourism, Rimini is the first municipality in Italy for wealth creation. This is what emerges from the Sociometric study on the impact of tourist spending on the local economy, published today by Sole 24 Ore. The study is based on the processing of Istat data referring to 2023combined with estimates of tourist presences and the ‘tourism satellite account’, i.e. those items of the total tourist expenditure that characterize the stay and which range from the cost of overnight accommodation to agency costs, transport and rentals, hospitality and cultural services of various types, services related to attractions, guides.

And in the ranking of the 100 municipalities in Italy for wealth created by tourism, Rimini stands in first place, with a percentage value compared to the total added value of Italian tourism which corresponds to 1.56% of the wealth generated, followed by the Venetian Cavallino-Treporti (with 1.381 billion and .47%), in third place Bibione (San Michele al Tagliamento) with 1.323 billion and 1.26%, Jesolo (1.179 billion and 1.05%), Caorle (986.259.791), Lignano Sabbiadoro (882.412529), Lazise (834.146.349), to then return to Romagna with the eighth in the ranking Cesenatico (768.416.328), Riccione (756.797.747) and, in tenth place, Cervia (742.370.475).

Looking at the ranking of the top thirty municipalities, it emerges how the sea and lakes beat the mountains not only in terms of attractiveness, but also in terms of added value that the tourism economy produces in that place: you have to get to 19th place to see the first mountain resort, Livigno .

A photograph that confirms the importance of multiple factors such as accessibility, connections with large cities and with the major arteries of international tourism, infrastructure, and the size of the hospitality platform. Factors on which Rimini once again maintains leadership in the national seaside tourism panorama with regards to the ability to directly and indirectly feed the hospitality economy and, consequently, the local economy in which guests stay.
