Years of violence in Ferrara, man sentenced to three years La Nuova Ferrara

Ferrara A 47-year-old man was sentenced yesterday morning by the Court of Ferrara to three years in prison for the crime of domestic abuse against his ex-partner, a civil party in the trial, assisted by the lawyer Sara Bruno. The disputed facts relate to the period 2019-2020, but began even earlier, from the end of 2018, and continued until 2022. A relationship permeated by jealousy of the man towards his partner, with precarious economic conditions – residence in one Acer house, the only income belonged to the woman, just 250 euros of support before she managed to find a job, no contribution from him – and then from the intervention of social services who, given the situation, took charge of the two children. Years wrapped in a vortex of terrifying violence. As emerged during the trial, the neighbors often heard the woman shouting, begging to stop, ask for help. They heard him hitting, destroying furniture, shouting insults. When she went out to do the shopping she had to come back immediately, she couldn’t be late because, otherwise, it was obvious that she was seeing someone and she couldn’t. In August 2019 the police intervened at home after an argument. In the presence of her agents, he insulted her and threatened her with death: “I’ll kill you, I’ll cut your head off, I’ll break your face, as soon as the police leave I’ll kill you.” In the same month he looked at her cell phone, saw some joking photos with a boy and her reaction was a sequence of death threats: “I’ll kill you, I mix your bonesI’ll cut off your head.” The next day he kicked her, made her fall, stole her cell phone and ran away. When the police arrived, someone alerted them that the man was trying to get back into the house through the window. The woman found I work as a carer in the province and was away from home five days a week. He took it very badly: he was convinced that she was having an affair with the old woman’s son, he called her while he worked and threatened her. When she returned home one day, he threatened her: «You eat semolina through a straw for six months, I’ll send you to intensive care. If you enter the house you never come out again, you are dead meat.” He locked her up, then went to the bathroom and she managed to escape, finding shelter from her neighbor, who was also threatened. The police intervened, he ran away. She closed the house and went elsewhere. He returned by opening a window. The police arrived, someone saw him running away with a large knife. While she was going to work, he tried to intercept her at the bus stop. He hit the target twice, on one occasion he snatched her bag, on the other he kicked her while got on the bus. Then a year off, physically distant, but with him always making himself heard, in his own way. The old woman died and in October 2021 she returned to Ferrara, forced cohabitation. In November she found another job and a bed in a facility. He had her fired after a year and she was left with no place to go. Another return home: a few days, then the escape to the Women and Justice Center. Today she is still terrified of finding him in front of her.
