ROME – “Fortunately this year the drought has hit some areas of the South and Sicily in particular”. This is how he began Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida in his speech yesterday to the Senate of the Republic, causing dismay in the chamber.
The topic he was discussing during the session dedicated to “Question time“, was the current water crisis that is affecting various areas of our country. The Minister was highlighting the importance of the work carried out by farmers in this critical phase.
The Democratic Party attacks
“As if the differentiated autonomy project wasn’t enough to split the country wanted by the Meloni government here is Lollobrigida stating that the drought this year will ‘fortunately’ hit the South more. It is a deplorable and offensive statement of which a minister of the Republic should at least be ashamed”. He gives it secretary of the Sicily Democratic Party, Anthony Barbagallo, commenting on the response of the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida to Lega senator Giorgio Maria Bergesio at question time yesterday in the Senate.
Words which for Barbagallo show “not only the obvious inadequacy of the government to identify concrete solutions but also the mockery of the government’s complacency because it doesn’t rain in the South”. “No further proof is needed, Lollobrigida must do one thing and one thing only: resign with immediate effect – concludes Barbagallo – And feel ashamed for what she said in the silence – as embarrassed as it is complicit – of all the representatives of her party and of the entire centre-right“.
