In recent days, the Carabinieri of the Livorno Company have implemented a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the Court of Naples in 2019 against a 52-year-old of Salerno origins seriously accused of being the author of a scam carried out in the Campania capital in 2013.

The Carabinieri investigators, as stated in a note, after having carried out a meticulous reconstruction of some suspicious dynamics reported, have identified the 52-year-old as the author of 6 scams carried out in the city of Labro since the middle of last April.

In particular, the man allegedly lured his victims through an advertisement for an apartment for rent in Borgo dei Cappuccini on a well-known website, at a very advantageous rent; furthermore, to give greater credibility to his figure and gain the trust of the victims, he passed himself off as a medical oncologist and university professor who was working, on behalf of his sick sister, to find a tenant for the latter’s apartment. last.

After having shown the unfortunate people the house, of which he had managed to obtain the keys from the real owner through further deception, once he had their willingness to rent it, he would arrange to meet them at a local bar for the formalities.

Once he even managed to invite the victims into a free access area of ​​the Livorno hospital to stipulate the contract.

With these stratagems he managed to get various sums of money delivered by the victims, making them sign the rental contract, which he however kept for himself because, according to him, his sister’s signature was missing, and then he disappeared making himself unavailable at the mobile number had provided from time to time.

The photos and address of the house in the advertisement, fundamental elements for the investigations from which the Carabinieri investigators immediately started, made it possible to trace the real owner, a 50-year-old from Livorno, already a well-known figure, convicted, and currently burdened by precautionary measure of the residence ban in Livorno.

The woman would have met the fake doctor in Pisa following a chance meeting in a local bar. From this meeting a relationship of trust was born, obtained thanks to her condition of particular vulnerability and economic difficulty, which the fraudster took advantage of to ensnare her with the promise of a job and to propose himself as an intermediary in the sale of her apartment in Livorno, thus obtain the keys and all necessary documents, including identity documents.

Thanks to the collaboration of the woman, who then realized that she had been scammed and to some details reported by the other victims, the military managed to identify the apartment in Pisail where the scammer lived and, on the afternoon of May 7th, they managed to stop him upon leaving the house and arresting him.

As a result of the subsequent house search, both the gowns and the various medical instruments he used to deceive the victims were found, as well as the documentation referring to some fake rental contracts including the prepaid cards on which he, on some occasions, he had sums of money amounting to approximately 5,000 euros credited.

The carabinieri, having completed the formalities and having also reported him for the 6 scams, took the man to the Le Sughere district house in Livorno.
