Ankoneide is born. The review of unpublished productions designed specifically for the Doric city.

Two new events designed around the symbolic date of June 21st, the summer solstice.

After the dark side of “The Spectacle of Evil” investigated at the Festival by literature, cinema and philosophy, Popsophia now looks at the bright side of existence by celebrating the solstice in the only city where the sun rises and sets in the Adriatic.

For the occasion, the Roman Amphitheater will bring together the classical past of the city and philosophy with the multimedia languages of contemporaneity. The place that embodies the history of ancient Ankon will return to light up thanks to the shows that will be staged on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd June.

When the sun of the longest day of the year sets over the sea, the early evening of Ankoneide will begin. An unrepeatable event to enhance the uniqueness of the Ancona Amphitheater which stands out on the promontory overlooking the Adriatic, where sea and sun touch, and the emotions of music and philosophy mix with the smell of salt and the air that rises from the sea.

“To build the summer project we started from the origin – Lucrezia Ercoli underlined in the press conference – The theme of these two days is a word that contains the meaning of the Doric origin of the city, this elbow, inlet, which becomes the location of our festival. A way to give new life to the Roman Amphitheater and link us to its classical history with the figure of Popsophia and its contemporary languages”.

For the occasion, the graphics designed for the exhibition take inspiration from Giorgio De Chirico’s work “Horses on an ancient beach” to talk about mystery and the sea with the stylization of a promontory that looks exactly like the profile of the Conero.

A show of philosophy and music created by artistic director Lucrezia Ercoli on the symbolic date of the solstice, from the Latin “solstitium”, the day on which the sun “stops” for the longest time in the northern hemisphere; the pagan festival that opens the summer celebrated in all civilizations since ancient times. From the fire rites of popular culture to the Christian feast of St. John the Baptist, the summer solstice is the symbolic moment when light wins over darkness.

Evening enriched by the interventions of the philosopher and writer Simone Regazzoni, author of the book “Ocean, philosophy of the planet” which pushes us to look beyond our earth-centric perspective to reread the history of the world and of man from the point of view of the sea.

The musical performances of the Factory, Popsophia’s band, with a very rich musical repertoire on the theme of light and the sea, from Paolo Conte of “Onda suonda” to the Beatles with “Here’s come the sun”. Riccardo Minnucci’s video montages will reconstruct the cinematic suggestions linked to summer and the promises of happiness of seaside holidays.

June 22nd is the time of a highly anticipated return strongly desired by the city: after the winter sold out, the show dedicated to the Philosophy of Raffaella Carrà returns in a new version. An opportunity, in the wonderful setting of the Roman Amphitheater, to please the many spectators who were unable to participate. However, it will not be a simple re-proposal. Alongside the narration of Lucrezia Ercoli and the wild performances of the band Factory, we will have the extraordinary participation of the philosopher and writer Ilaria Gaspari (a few weeks after the release of her new highly anticipated novel “La reputation”) who will add an unprecedented reflection on the iconic figure and revolutionary of the national Raffa.

The two shows will have free admission with reservations required on the website www.popsophia.com
