Pesaro, 10 May 2024 – He had it arrived from Bulgaria 230 packs of anabolics paying 4 thousand euros. He considered it a purchase for ‘personal use’. The flying squad, however, had another opinion on that expedition. So he waited outside the delivery office in via Degli Abeti for the recipient of the package. These, DT 33 years old, originally from Foggiano but resident in Pesaroshowed up at the offices picking up the Bulgarian package.
Upon exiting he found Mobile agents who blocked him. They asked him to open the package and the 230 packs of anabolics came out, in particular Trembolone, Turenabol, Oxandrolone, Drostanolone. The 33-year-old was arrested in flagrante delicto and placed under house arrest pending validation. The man tried to defend himself by saying that he made personal use of it as he was a bodybuilder and lover of bodybuilding but the justification was not enough to avoid arrest. He is responsible for a specific crime which severely punishes those who trade in doping products. In particular, “Whoever trades drugs and pharmacologically or biologically active substances that are suitable for modifying the psychophysical or biological conditions of the organism, in order to alter the competitive performance of athletes or suitable for modifying the results of controls on the use of such drugs or substances, through channels other than pharmacies open to the public, hospital pharmacies, dispensaries open to the public and other facilities that hold drugs directly intended for use on the patient, is punished with imprisonment from two to six years and with the fine from 5,164 euros to 77,468 euros“.
The lawyer defending the 33-year-old, Enrico Cipriani, explains that “the investigation comes from the Varese prosecutor’s office but it is still early to be able to express any considerations. We are awaiting the guarantee interrogation. It is certain that my client he is a body builder and those substances are for personal use.”
The investigation started from Lombardy where other recipients of the doping substances presumably coming from China were identified. From checks in Lombardy, investigators realized that another recipient of the packages was the 33-year-old from Pesaro. Hence the decision to send the file for jurisdiction to Pesaro. The interceptions made it possible to know when the man would go to collect his package with 230 packs of poison in the form of doping products.
