“The restorers are at work to give new light to the sixteenth-century temple of Sant’Antonio in Piazza Tre Martiri”. Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad wanted to be present at the opening of the construction site to give back to the city of Rimini “a monumental jewel that will be enhanced with the coordination of the technical offices of the Municipality and with the supervision of the Superintendency”. The opportunity came thanks to the Art Bonus contribution of 200 thousand euros donated by the Rimini entrepreneur Bonfiglio Mariotti: “The small temple of Sant’Antonio is a place dear to me, just as it is dear to many Rimini residents”. The construction nets wrapped up the small temple. Now the restorers will take care of making it go back to how it once was. The building dates back to the first half of the 16th century and will be the subject of works which will affect both the external and internal parts, as well as the systems.

The exterior will be restored through the consolidation and cleaning of the Istrian stone and San Marino stone that surround the structure. The roof will be overhauled and restored as will the fixtures, friezes and metal parts. Inside, the restorers will work on the stone parts and the plastered vault, as well as the frescoes, the wooden sculpture and the adaptation of the systems. Before proceeding, the project was developed after carefully carrying out investigations to understand the stratigraphy beyond the surface. An operation carried out thanks to diagnostics with a thermal imager. Furthermore, a laser was used for three-dimensional surveys.
