“Now you become a real tourist destination”

“We cannot talk about the tourism development of the region without taking into account the importance of its capital: let’s think about what Tuscany would be without Florence or Emilia without Bologna. So what would the Marche be without Ancona?”. This was underlined by the Councilor for Economic Activities and Major Events of the Municipality Angelo Eliantonio, who spoke yesterday at the conference organized by Qn Distritti at the Loggia dei Mercanti in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of the Marche, Municipality of Ancona and Luiss School of Government, with the support of Bper Banca and the patronage of the Region. Strategic insights, best practices and innovative solutions at the center of debates and round tables attended by dozens of speakers and stakeholders, leading figures in the institutional, political and economic world, to jointly promote the growth of an increasingly important sector for the local economy. And the role of Ancona as a leading city has also been underlined several times by the director of Confcommercio Marche Centrali Massimiliano Polacco and the mayor Daniele Silvetti. If the latter reiterated how the Ancona brand, with its 2400 years of history, is rich in attractions and assets to be systemised, Polacco however wanted to reiterate how infrastructural isolation continues to penalize us. “Ancona must do a great job in the direction of being a real tourist destination” he said.

Even the entrepreneur Monica Gabrielli, co-owner of the Grand Hotel Palace (together with her husband Michele Bernetti of the Umani Ronchi company) focused on the vocation of Ancona in her speech: “Our customers are mainly from the business sector – she said – unfortunately despite the efforts Ancona is not exactly a tourist city, but something is moving”.

Alberto Rossi of Frittelli Maritime spoke about the role of the port and the importance of intercepting the large flows of ferry and cruise passengers, but also of the shipbuilding industry. Imagining the future of our port with the Peninsula project and the historic port area finally returned to the city and why not, partly dedicated to the docking of superyachts. “It would be a dream” he concluded. “Ancona is second to none – the president of the Marche Chamber of Commerce Gino Sabatini proudly stated – we remember that the G7 Health will also be here in October”.
