First turning point for the 2024 Giro d’Italia. After the day dedicated to the dirt track, here is the first of two individual time trials for the Corsa Rosa: appointment today with the Foligno-Perugia. Let’s discover the sixth stage in detail with route, altitude, favorites and programme.
PATH
The first 34 kilometers are practically flat, where time trial specialists will find fertile ground for their wheels. But after the second half-time, the story changes. The climb towards Casaglia is very tough: 1.3 kilometers at an average gradient of 10.7%. And it doesn’t end here: to get to Perugia the road continues to climb constantly, even if with a more limited gradient.
ALTIMETERY
FAVOURITES
Italy is hunting for the second partial success of this Giro with Filippo Ganna: the Italian champion is the clear favorite in this test but will have to be careful especially in the final part which is not entirely suited to his characteristics. Tadej Pogacar is challenging him for the stage victory: the Maglia Rosa already wants to move up in the general classification and finds himself a perfect day to make the gap. Watch out, both for the fraction and for the ranking, obviously also for Geraint Thomas. Surprise name, again from Ineos Grenadiers, that of Magnus Sheffield.
