A technical table was held this morning between the President of the Province, Rinaldo Melucci, and the councilors of all the political groups to agree on a common line regarding the destination of the funds deriving from the unrestricted budget surplus (equal to approximately 16 million euros) .
Beyond political colours, the President also wanted to collect suggestions from opposition councilors to satisfy the needs of the area as much as possible. This is an absolutely new approach to teamwork in the history of the organisation.
A part of the resources will be allocated to road works including the reconstruction of the SP 57 which connects Martina Franca to Alberobello, the adaptation of the bridge on the SP 122 coastal road in the Municipality of Maruggio, the design and execution of the works on the SP 12 and SP 14 respectively in the Municipalities of Castellaneta and Palagianello.
The remaining resources will be used in school construction with particular attention on the “Battaglini” scientific high school in Taranto, on the “Lentini – Einstein” upper secondary education institute in Mottola, on the “Moscati” and “Calò” high schools in Grottaglie, on the IISS “Luigi Einaudi” by Manduria and on the IP “Elsa Morante” by Crispiano. Further interventions near schools will be planned in the coming months with other savings or mortgages.
“The ultimate goal is the good of the provincial community beyond political alignments. I am very satisfied with today’s meeting and I am confident in ever greater collaboration between the parties”, declared the President of the Province, Rinaldo Melucci, on the sidelines of the meeting.
