Robbery in the centre, the baby gang captured – Pescara

PESCARA. Three of them surrounded him: first they offered him drugs, then they beat him and finally they sprayed stinging spray in his eyes to steal 300 euros and his cell phone. It happened at lunchtime in the center of the city, in the garden area of the station’s bus terminal, which has become a meeting place for baby gangs, drug dealers and violent people. The victim is a 30-year-old from Pakistan, who had just arrived in Pescara by bus and ended up under attack by three very young foreigners, two Egyptians and a Tunisian aged just 15. However, the brutal violence did not go unpunished: the small group of troublemakers was identified and blocked in Via Regina Elena, with part of the money and pepper spray still in their pockets, as well as some knives, at the culmination of a coordinated operation between the crews of Volante, Mobile and the Abruzzo Crime Prevention Department which led to the arrest of the three non-EU citizens.
The aggravated robbery dates back to last Monday around lunchtime. The place is the increasingly multi-ethnic one that expands close to the station square, between Corso Vittoio Emanuele and the network of shops run by foreigners, an area with a high criminal density that has long been held hostage by drug dealers and the homeless, as demonstrated by the surge in reports of crimes of a predatory nature and the numerous reports of passers-by, travelers and bus drivers annoyed by the aggressive and violent behavior of those stationed in the gardens of the bus terminal. According to the story given to the police by the 30-year-old Pakistani man, the man was surrounded by some young people who approached him with the excuse of offering him some narcotic substance. When he refused, the blows rained down: kicks, punches and even pepper spray sprayed in his face. Before escaping, the very young men stole the cash he had with him, around 300 euros, and his smartphone. The wounds were treated in the emergency room and the injuries were judged to heal in seven days.
As soon as the call arrived to the police headquarters operations room from some passers-by, investigations were immediately started by the Flying Squad patrols, coordinated by the deputy commissioner. Pierpaolo Varrassoand of the Mobile team, led by the manager Gianluca Di Frischia. Also in support are the policemen from the Abruzzo crime prevention department, engaged in observation, supervision and control services, as per the instructions of the police commissioner Carlo Solimene. After the first summary information acquired by the officers by questioning the victim, an extensive search for the attackers began in the streets of the centre. In a short time the police managed to identify and block the three very young people in via Regina Elena.
They are a 19 year old and a newly 18 year old, both Egyptians, and a 15 year old from Tunisia. The three foreigners still had part of the stolen banknotes, the sting spray and some clothes worn during the robbery. But they had partially changed, probably in an attempt to avoid being recognised, and had dug a hole in the sand to hide the stolen mobile phone. Once stopped by the officers, the boys immediately indicated the place where they had hidden the smartphone, wrapped in a blue plastic bag buried under piles of sand, on the stretch of beach in front of the Nave di Cascella. At the same time, investigators examined the images of the Municipality’s video surveillance system installed in the area of the bus terminal and gathered further evidence against the group of violent men. The three were then arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities of the public prosecutor’s office of Pescara and the prosecutor’s office of the juvenile court of L’Aquila. They were also reported for aggravated assault and two of them also for possession of a weapon, having been found in possession of knives.
