What has been happening in the last few hours is incredible. Castellammare di Stabia, a city that returns to the vote after a dissolution due to mafia infiltration, does not find peace even in the hours preceding the presentation of the lists (by 12pm on Saturday 11 May).
The first shock came in the early afternoon, when the former mayor Toni Pannullo held a press conference complaining about the continuous vetoes on some candidates from other lists, mainly accusing a part of the Stabia Democratic Party. “Under these conditions we can no longer move forward”, even suggesting a definitive break and the creation of a third pole. In the evening the candidate for mayor of wide field Luigi Vicinanza he mended the rift, taking the same line as Pannullo: “I won’t put any veto, neither on parties nor on civics.” Problem solved, at least for now.
While Vicinanza mended the rift with the progressive and reformist civic forces, here comes the ggreat escape from the Castellammare Democratic Party. At least eleven candidates, including the former president Roberto Elefantethey would be ready to run on another list, thus leaving the Democratic party empty-handed and without names to present the list.
Indeed, according to leaked indiscretions, the eleven PD candidates could merge into the civic Uniti per Stabia of Massimo de Angelis, which would thus become a large container of votes with the approval of Mario Casillo. While the Democratic Party would even risk not presenting the list. An apocalyptic scenario that is looming in these hours.
There is only one day to mend or definitively split the Democratic Party, which literally imploded at the news of Sandro Ruotolo’s candidacy as dem list leader. More than a strong point, at this point it turned out to be a boomerang.
