“The rejection by the Ministry of the Environment of the project to build the coastal liquid natural gas deposit in Cala Saccaia is news that gives us hope and which, without a doubt, legitimizes the validity of the protests of the citizens of Gallura. The reasons why the methane terminal, with a 40 thousand cubic meter LNG storage tank, did not pass the environmental impact assessment are still unknown.

However – recalls the regional councilor of the M5s group Roberto Li Gioi – already two years ago I expressed my opposition to a project that could put at risk the very delicate ecosystem of the Gulf of Olbia where the most valuable mussels in the world have been bred for a hundred years. In fact, the fear of the mussel farmers – continues Li Gioi – concerned the enormous quantities of water that would be taken from the Gulf to cool the plants and subsequently poured into the sea at very high temperatures. We cannot allow decisions dictated by commercial will to put the history and economy of our city at risk.”
