Discovery in Colombella – A dramatic search operation ended with the sad discovery of the body of a missing man, in the Colombella area, Municipality of Perugia. The timely intervention by the Fire Brigade at the headquarters, followed by a report from family members, led to the discovery of the fifty-year-old, resident in the same area.

The search operation, near the Tiber, began immediately after the alarm raised by the man’s family. A first team of rescuers, equipped with specialized equipment for the river and flood rescue, she quickly arrived on site. In support, the Umbria SAPR (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) Unit was activated, a division specialized in the use of drones for search and rescue operations, which played a crucial role in identifying the victim.

The operators of the Drone Unit, after a scrupulous search from above, noticed the presence of a motorcycle and a mobile phone abandoned near a pond, which immediately aroused suspicion. Deepening the exploration, the drone detected an anomaly in the water of the pond, which led rescuers on the trail of the missing person.

Thanks to the indications provided from above, the SFA team, experts in river and flood rescue, proceeded with the recovery of the man’s body, unfortunately lifeless. This sad discovery concluded the operation of research, leaving a community mourning the loss.

The intervention saw the collaboration of various law enforcement agencies, including the State Police and the Carabinieri, who carried out the necessary investigations to clarify the circumstances of the disappearance and death.
