A 350 thousand euro intervention is ready in the Piacenza area for the consolidation of a slope hit by a landslide

Bologna – Un 350 thousand construction site euros per secure the town of Casaliin the municipality of Morfasso (Pc), with a complex consolidation intervention that covers a large area inside and outside the town centre.

Located in aarea at very high hydrogeological risk in the upper Arda valley, the mountain village on the banks of the watercourse of the same name, will be affected by works to strengthen the slope and mitigate instability in various points. The the country is in fact threatened by landslides in areas outside the built-up area which risk expanding to the point of touching the buildings.

The intervention, financed with Pnrr resources, is based on numerous geotechnical and seismic investigations to identify solutions to reduce the effects of instability. The planning and management of the works are carried out by the Piacenza territorial office of the regional agency for territorial security and civil protection as part of the established intervention programme.

The works in progress
Three areas were affected by the interventions, all above 800 meters above sea level. The first is located next to a public road inside the town where the relevant slope will be consolidated.
In a second road in the town, the construction of a micropile bulkhead is planned to consolidate the area characterized by slow gravitational movements that have produced cracks near the houses. The latter affects a flat area further south at the foot of a slope with movements towards the south-west.
Overall, a Berline will be built, i.e. a support structure made of micropiles connected vertically by a reinforced concrete face and a series of sub-horizontal drains.
The maintenance of the canal inside the town is also planned with resecting, cutting of spontaneous vegetation and, in the intubated section, the replacement of obstructed or damaged components.
The works will be carried out respecting the environment and landscape with the use of earth from the drillings and the riverbed for the final restoration. Furthermore, the reinforced concrete structures will be buried or covered in stone with the material recovered from the demolition of the unsafe dry stone walls.
The planning of the works was carried out by the Piacenza Territorial Office of the Regional Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection, which coordinates its management.
