The Lady Maria Navedoro plays the bell of victory. After discovering, during a routine mammogram, that she had breast cancer, today she celebrates the end of her treatment – which began last December – at the “John Paul II” Institute in Bari. For this reason he decided to donate to the department of Oncology he heals the bell of hope: “It was from the media that I learned about this British custom and I thought it would be nice to bring the same feeling here too. The care they offer us in this facility is very important, but the ‘frivolous’ is also useful. And so I decided to give a special thought to my seat mates.”
The bell
In fact, on the plaque placed under the bell it is written: “In a world of care and hope, the bell rings, marking the end of a battle fought with courage”. “The symbol that is given to us – commented the general director of the Institute, Alessandro Delle Donne – must serve to create a team, as in the best British sporting tradition: at the end of every challenge, at the end of the match, for every victory, we must play your own bell”
