Queen of Puglia And Lands of Grapes. At the Rimini Fair the presentation of the network of Apulian producing municipalities “A year ago the municipalities dedicated to the production of table grapes signed a memorandum of understanding to demonstrate their commitment to establishing a network that could become a new institutional interlocutor. Today we present an even more ambitious project: Terre dell’Uva, an agreement between seven municipalities that brings together agriculture, the economy and cultural offerings to identify a new model of territorial promotion based on our excellent product”so the mayor of Noicàttaro Raimondo Innamorato in the press conference to present the network of Municipalities “Lands of Grapes”on the occasion of the 41st edition of Macfrut, international fruit and vegetable supply chain fair in Rimini, in which he took part together withCouncilor for Agriculture and Environment Vito Fraschini, to councilors for Territorial Development Vito Santamaria and Germana Pignatellito the mayor of Polignano a Mare Vito Carrieri et al president of the Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters association, Giacomo Suglia.

Lands of Grapes is a network that currently involves seven municipalities in the provinces of Bari and Taranto: Noicàttaro, Adelfia, Casamassima, Castellaneta, Polignano a Mare, Mola di Bari, Rutiglianowith the aim of developing a particular synergy between the municipalities in which the product is produced table grapes represents a peculiarity and driving excellence for the economy of the entire territory.

The agreement provides for promotion, protection and support activities for the agricultural sector, training courses and a census of local agricultural activities, strengthening the link between the productive world and local culture, but was also born with the intention of becoming a new interlocutor who can take on a greater specific weight in institutional interlocutions.

During the conference the second edition of “Queen of Puglia”scheduled in Noicàttaro from 21st to 24th July, the event project which, through an incoming strategy, involves journalists from the main newspapers specialized in the agriculture and food and wine tourism sector, buyers from large-scale distribution in the fruit and vegetable sector and agricultural companies, in a cultural business stay experience aimed at getting to know the world of table grape production up close.

“Regina di Puglia” was born with the intention of giving the media and large-scale distribution an intense and direct experience that goes from harvesting to comparison with companies in order to recognize the correct value of an agricultural product. If Puglia can boast the best production of table grapes in the world, it is right to tell it. This is why Municipalities, especially if in synergy, can reduce the distances between producers and consumers and make everyone appreciate the value of the product and the history that characterizes it”, explains theAgriculture Councilor Vito Fraschini.

Not just agriculture: in fact, Regina di Puglia and Terre dell’Uva promote a marketing strategy that makes the territories and their identities recognisable, which become the driving force for a new concept of tourism.

“Noicattaro, for example, can experience secondary tourism, not particularly mass tourism. Today, thanks to network actions, territories like ours can focus on a new form of tourism, experiential tourism. This is why the welcome of buyers and journalists who arrive for Regina di Puglia is deliberately part of a program of cultural valorization of our context through participation in traditional festivals, visits to the famous Nojano theater and tastings in the vineyards”, explains theCouncilor for Territorial Development Germana Pignatelli.

With the birth of the “Terre dell’Uva” network of municipalities, the tourist offer expands, involving all the territories that are part of it, representing an opportunity to promote an entire Apulian area.
