Italia Viva Calabria: health is at the center of people’s lives. The State must guarantee prevention, diagnosis and treatment to women, men, teenagers, children and the elderly
And it must do it through public health. Targeted and concrete interventions must make the National Health Service evolve into an excellence that is a model for European countries and dialogues with them.
1. A 15 kilometer healthcare system: a network of hospital, clinic and basic medicine services, which are networked but at the same time capable of covering the territories.
2.Public transport networks must be designed to make access to NHS facilities simple.
3. Nursing staff can and must be further professionalized by specialization courses that make them capable of acting in an auxiliary capacity on some basic medical functions.
4.Cultural intermediation and a gender approach must be guaranteed in every health and prevention service.
5. Family doctors in collaboration with experts from different branches must be able to activate community homes where they can place the services and equipment necessary for routine examinations, with guaranteed opening on public holidays.
6. Telemedicine and the figure of the basic psychologist can and must be a key presence in the local NHS. Also due to the peculiar ability of the former to respond promptly and over larger territories, of the latter to accommodate the area of psychological well-being, significantly reducing the pharmacological medicalization of the disorder, particularly among young people and the elderly.
7.5.Salaries: given that Italy has the lowest level in Europe also in the NHS, it is necessary to implement a reform of the contractual economic conditions so as to guarantee higher salaries correctly related to the importance of the function performed.
8. The financing of family counseling structures to support decisions on procreation, contraception, adoption, with specific attention to adolescents.
For all these reasons, Italy needs to access the Health MES, without any ifs or buts.
