Province of Taranto, school buildings: “renovations in record time”

Below is a press release released by the provincial administration of Taranto:

In the last year the school building sector, managed by the Province of Taranto, has
had a strong implementation with resources from the National Recovery Plan
and Resilience (PNRR), from the National Operational Program (PON) and from budget funds
used on the occasion of the organisation’s centenary.
Approximately twenty projects have been implemented to modernize school buildings and buildings
related sports facilities for an amount of almost 30 million euros.
Particular attention in some renovation projects has been placed on demolition
of architectural barriers for the improvement of school living conditions for
students with disabilities. Specifically, at the “Calò” art high school in
Grottaglie all the barriers were demolished as well as the installation of
an elevator.
The sports facilities present in schools, as mentioned, were also the subject
of jobs. In fact, there are eleven sports facilities (gyms and playgrounds) that over the course of
about a year they were renovated or built from scratch.
Among these, the playing fields of the IISS “Luigi Einaudi” in Manduria can already be used
and the “GB Vico” high school in Laterza.
The President of the Province of Taranto, Rinaldo Melucci, together with the technicians of the Institution, al
In order to verify the progress of the works, they carried out inspections in
“Fermi” plexus of the ITT “A.Pacinotti” and in the “Aristosseno” State Gymnasium High School.
As regards the Pacinotti Institute, a PNRR fund has been allocated equal to
4,260,000.00 euros for extraordinary maintenance works with efficiency improvements
energy and regulatory compliance. Furthermore, there is an unusable structure in the property
since 1993 due to infiltrations and that, after 30 years, under the Melucci administration,
it is the subject of complete renovation works. The premises affected by the works were used,
in the past, to mechanical workshops. Dedicated laboratories are planned
to artificial intelligence and new technologies, as well as becoming self-managed spaces by
students. A real rebirth, therefore, for internal scientific research
of the institute.
As regards the “Aristosseno” State Gymnasium High School, through the use of the three
funds mentioned in the introduction, the structure was brought into line with the regulations
earthquakes, the renovation of all toilets, the replacement of fixtures,
to the elimination of all architectural barriers even with the installation of a
elevator. Likewise, the gym was renovated and a playground was created
multidisciplinary (football, basketball and volleyball).
“I thank the technicians who have been working for months on the design phase and execution of the projects
works. It’s been too many years since school buildings have been affected in this way
incisive. I am proud of the work of the organization which in less than two years has brought about a net result
improvement of school facilities for easier use of the buildings e
of teaching activity by both students and teaching staff. We will continue to
employ more and more resources to meet the needs coming from the school world
and to carry out inspections also during the summer. There are still many interventions
in programming, first of all those at the Battaglini scientific high school” declared the
President of the Province, Rinaldo Melucci.
