Undeclared work at the San Lorenzo market: 15 businesses suspended

Blitz by the Labor Inspectorate at the San Lorenzo local market in Florence, aimed at combating illegal and irregular work.

The operation, started at the first light of day, saw the simultaneous use of 22 inspection units (19 inspectors from the Metropolitan Area Inspectorate of Florence and 3 soldiers from the Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate Unit of Florence) concentrated in the streets adjacent to the general market in order to to verify the working relationships in the commercial establishments that use the “barrocci” for the sale of leather goods to tourists.

They were in the morning controlled 18 companies, including 13 stalls and 5 public businesses operating in the area.

14 illegal workers were identifiedall of non-EU nationality, of which 3 without any residence permit and 5 for whom checks on residence permits are underway to verify whether they are suitable to carry out work.

They were adopted 15 suspension measures, in most cases for illegal work exceeding 10% of the workforce and in some cases also for the failure to adopt the DVR (risk assessment document). In order to reopen their activities, the employers receiving the precautionary measures will have to proceed with the regularization of the workers.
