Last May 5, on the occasion of the national day against pedophilia and child pornography, the postal police disclosed the numbers of the phenomenon, constantly growingillustrating the counteractions and prevention and awareness initiatives.
At the local levellast year agents of the Cremona postal police reported 21 people for the crime of sex extortion. These complaints led the prosecutor’s office to investigate 6 people. It’s about the new frontier of blackmail which concerns thousands of web users who have come across friend requests from presumed young women who, at the end of increasingly intimate video chat conversations, asked for payment of sums of money with the threat of publishing the videos on personal Facebook profiles, of family or friends or on the YouTube channel.
The investigations made it possible to trace the data used by the extortionists: nickname, name or payment address of the extorted sum, e-mail address, number of the transaction carried out and helped to identify those responsible.
Also last year the Cremona postal agents have 5 people reported for soliciting minors and 2 for possession and dissemination of child pornography. One arrest and 5 suspectsinstead, they concerned the phenomenon of revenge pornthe sharing of pornographic material, in images or videos, across the internet, without the consent of the person portrayed for the purpose of harming or blackmailing them.
