Crotone – KR.IU is the acronym of Krotone Identità Urbane, and is the three-year project for the creation of murals in the city of Crotone, between Fondo Gesù and the 300 apartmentswith murals inspired by the characters of ancient Magna Graecia to transform the city “Into an open-air museum”.
KR.IU’s intention is to regenerate the neighborhoods by promoting contemporary arts, promoting social inclusion and trying to educate young people and the population on the concept of beauty and respect for the territory.
KR.IU is divided into three years: between 2024 and 202610 artists of national and international fame will give life to a process of urban and social regeneration in a specific area of the city of Crotone, between Via Di Vittorio and Via Mastracchi.
This urban process will enhance not only the area in question but the entire city in terms of urban planning and territorial marketing.
The objective is in fact to give the city a new tourist attraction, an open-air museum created thanks to various forms of artistic expression on the wall which finds its nature in KR.IU
KRIU’S FIRST ARTIST
Aches is an Irish artist based in Dublin, specializing in large-scale murals and graffiti.
Born in 1992, he began drawing and painting at a young age and making graffiti at the age of 15.
After Having graduated from NCAD with a degree in Visual Communications, Aches began to blend his knowledge of Graphic Design and Graffiti.
Aches has been invited to design and create original artwork for projects around the world, in countries such as Denmark, Hungary, Spain, Sweden, Scotland, Austria, Switzerland, England and the United States and Italy.
After a decade spent painting outdoors, Aches’ artistic practice is equally divided between contemporary murals and studio work.
