The soil improver composed of waste from the agri-food chain (ACFA) produced by Enomondo on the site Faenzain via Convertite 6, has received the «CIC Quality Compost» issued by the Italian Composting Consortium.

Identification certifies the quality of this type of organic fertilizer which is added to the other types of soil improvers produced by the Enomondo plants.

Fertilizers are made from processing residues Caviro Extra, company that recovers waste from the wine supply chain Caviro Groupfrom waste from the agri-food industry and from public green prunings provided by Herambiente.

«We are happy to award the first CIC brand for the soil improver composed of waste from the agri-food chain to Enomondo which has proven innovator also in proposing this new solution sustainability and quality to its customers” he said Lella Miccolis, President of CIC – Italian Composting Consortium.

The ACFA is a natural fertilizer that is accomplished recovering the digestate that remains at the end of the production of advanced biomethane created by Caviro Extra starting from the by-products of the agri-food chain.

After long experiments, the residual sludge, which initially went for agronomic spreading, found its place in the new plant where it becomes an excellent soil improver thanks to the addition of prunings and the composting process.

«The distribution in the field has shown that the use of ACFA allows for a reduction in the use of chemical fertilizers by up to 50%with consequent benefits for farmers and the environment – he underlines Giovanni Ferrucci, commercial manager of Enomondo -. The product features are particularly functional also for the recovery and restoration of flooded agricultural land: the organic substance in fact recreates a fertile environment where the silt has been deposited which has generated asphyxiation of the land”.

«Producing soil improver starting from mowings, prunings, bio-digestate and waste from the agri-food chain allows us to obtain excellent quality compostsuitable both for extensive use in the open field and for floriculture and landscaping – he reports Massimo Centemero, CIC director -. An excellent summary of the meaning of circular economy.”

The ACFA production process takes place indoors, in a 10,000 square meter warehouse, under constant extraction. The plant has a production capacity of 40,000 tons of product and was inaugurated in 2022 following an investment by 8.5 million euros. «The demand for this type of fertilizer has been enormous and the production plant will come soon expanded to bring it to the production capacity of 70,000 tons» explains Ferrucci.
