There is a new place in the heart of Crotone, an oasis of solidarity and support that opens towards the mothers and children of the community. It is the Operational Center for Mothers and Children, a project born from the collaboration between the Diocesan Caritas and the Movement for Life of Santa Gianna Beretta Molla.
Recently inaugurated in via Raimondi, right in the center of the city, within the premises of the Curia, this space represents much more than a simple structure. It is a refuge of hope, a tangible sign of the community’s commitment to protecting and supporting those who need it most.
The archbishop of Crotone and Santa Severina, Monsignor Angelo Raffaele Panzetta, described this initiative as an act of hope, underlining how the degree of civilization of a community is measured by the way in which it takes care of its most vulnerable members. And this space dedicated to life is an important step towards a greater degree of civilization in our city.
The Operations Center welcomes all those who seek help, offering listening and support to anyone who turns to them. Here, mothers and pregnant women can find concrete assistance and support, together with children up to 12 years old. Without making distinctions of religious belief, culture or origin, the Center is open to all those who need a helping hand.
The President of the Movement for Life, Caterina Bumbaca, underlined the importance of offering hospitality and listening to all people in difficulty, highlighting how respect for human dignity is the foundation of all the Centre’s activities. Her presence today fills everyone with joy, as she is perceived as that of a friend and a family man.
The Operations Center is not only a place of immediate assistance, but also a meeting and training point. The Movement for Life is committed to promoting a culture of life through educational and training activities, especially aimed at young people, to raise awareness and educate on the value of life in all its phases.
Together with solidarity and gratuitousness, the Center represents a place of growth and integration for those who participate, combining incessant work with human relationships and openness to all those who knock on its door. As the Gospel of Matthew says, every time you do good to one of the least, you do good to Jesus himself.
The Operations Center for Mothers and Children is much more than a simple structure: it is a beacon of hope and love amidst the challenges of daily life.
