The State Police’s control of the territory continues, guaranteed and intensified by the Messina Police Headquarters together with all the Specialty components of the State Police.
The arrest was made yesterday by the policemen of the local Railway Police and Police Section of the Messina Police Headquarters who surprised and blocked three subjects engaged in stealing copper and other ferrous material from a warehouse located in the southern area of the city.
Upon the arrival of the officers, the entrance door of the warehouse had been completely demolished and the three subjects, two from Catania and one from Messina aged respectively 40, 50 and 51 years, were busy loading ferrous material onto a truck, inside which they had been a large platform and other furnishings have already been placed.
The police therefore jointly proceeded with the arrest of the three subjects in flagrante delicto, subsequently validated by the Judicial Authority. At the same time, all the illegally stolen material was returned to the person entitled to it, while the truck on which the arrested people were caught loading the ferrous material was seized.
The above, for the purposes of exercising the constitutionally guaranteed right to freedom of the press and in compliance with the rights of the suspects who, in consideration of the current phase of preliminary investigations, are to be presumed innocent until the irrevocable sentence which ascertains their responsibilities and with the clarification that the trial, which will take place in cross-examination with the parties and the defenses before a third and impartial judge, may also conclude with proof of the absence of any form of responsibility on the part of the suspects.
