Trapani is one of the provinces in Sicily with the highest rate of fatal accidents. This was made known by Vega Engineering which, since 2010, has published on its website the statistical processing of the data from the Occupational Safety Observatory. Unfortunately, not much has changed between 2023 and the data for the first quarter of 2024: the incidence of fatal accidents among those employed in our area was and remains 8.2. The result is that Trapani currently finds itself in third place in Sicily, after Agrigento (with an incidence of 16.4) and Palermo (with an incidence of 9.0).
And it is clear that it is not something to be proud of, especially after the sad news of the massacre in Casteldaccia where five workers lost their lives, two of whom were residents in the province of Trapani. «Perhaps it has not yet been understood – declared the president of Confartigianato Imprese Trapani, Emanuele Virzì – that businesses and workers are indispensable figures for the Italian economy.
