PESCARA – The Michetti Park was inaugurated in via Avezzano in Pescara, as part of the OASI Project (Accessible Opportunity for Inclusive Spaces) in the Park – Intergenerational Inclusive Playground, financed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies pursuant to art. 72 of Legislative Decree. n. 117/2017 notice 2/2020.

“The Park, created thanks to the collaboration between the Province of Pescara, Uniat (National Union of tenants, environment and territory) National APS, Uniat Abruzzo and other institutions, is a meeting place open to citizens and above all accessible to people with disabilities to make the inclusion reality and integration a concrete fact – we read in a note – In short, a virtuous example of collaboration to create an inclusive space, a space dedicated to citizenship as a place of meeting, discussion and integration”.

The space was inaugurated by the president of the Province of Pescara, Ottavio De Martinisthe national Uniat president, Pietro Pellegrini, and the president Uniat Abruzzo, Antonio Mazza, with the participation of the organizational secretary Uil Abruzzo Fabrizio Truono and the president of the Business & Social Consortium Marco Cascella.

President Ottavio De Martinis is satisfied: “We have returned to the city an important space located in the center of Pescara, which until some time ago was in a state of abandonment and, thanks to Uil and Uniat, to whom it was entrusted, has become a decent place. Today with great pleasure we inaugurated two inclusive games installed thanks to ministerial funding. An important piece that adds to the work of the Province, because the Michetti Park, in addition to being a beautiful place for socializing, is a space where everyone can play through inclusive games compliant with regulations for children with some difficulties”.

The initiative was strongly supported by Uil Abruzzo, as Uniat is the tenants’ association of the confederal Uil which deals with the promotion of integrated sustainability between housing and environmental initiatives.

The general secretary of Uil Abruzzo Michele Lombardo commented on the initiative as follows: “The work carried out by our Uniat association perfectly marries the key idea of Uil which presents itself as a people’s union and which is at the side of all people on a daily basis, in particular those who represent the weaker than society. We were pleased to participate in the inauguration of the Park which was born from an important collaboration between Uniat Abruzzo and the Province of Pescara. We are convinced that support for people must also take place through these initiatives, aimed at offering important and vital inclusive spaces, which represent decisive steps in the fight against marginalization”.

The concept was reiterated by the national president of Uniat, Pietro Pellegrini, who stated: “It is increasingly important to create places of discussion and integration to combat isolation and social exclusion. This project is undoubtedly a best practice of collaboration between the public and the associative world, to create a space open to the largest number of users. Today’s inauguration is the last step of a journey taken together through the project financed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies and we believe it represents the first step of a collaboration with Uniat for activities in favor of the population and the integration of citizens . I am sure that this collaboration will bear many further fruits.”
