A truck driver lost his life this morning in an accident on the A21 in Piacenza, south lane, at the entrance to the Nure service area. The middle, loaded with paracetic acid, hit a car with three people on board. The driver of the truck died instantly, while the three were intoxicated and were transported to Piacenza hospital together with four other people who had helped them get out of the passenger compartment. Seven people were intoxicated in total, none in danger of their lives. 118 vehicles, the air ambulance and the fire brigade teams were on site. The service area was closed by the Cremona traffic police.
Several fire brigade teams are at work, with a tank fire engine, a crane and the Nbcr van, the department specialized in interventions involving ‘Nuclear – Biological – Chemical – Radiological’. The intervention of the firefighters began this morning around 7.15 on the A21, entrance lane to the ‘Nure Sud’ service area, following a request for a road accident. The heavy vehicle carrying the acid hit a car with three passengers. The driver of the truck died instantly due to the dynamics and violence of the impact. The operations to extract the body were, among other things, particularly long and difficult. Seven people – the three in the car and four motorists who rescued them – were intoxicated.
