Lamezia Terme – The “United for the Gulf of S.Eufemia” Group, through spokesperson Rosa Anna, intervenes regarding the intervention plan prepared by the Calabria Region on the problem of sea pollution: “We consider the attention paid to bad purification to be commendable , but in the meantime it is important to complain about the timing of the action. Certain operations, which require technical time for interventions and use of resources, which do not always find competent personnel within the administrations, should be thought of at the end of the previous summer season when all the critical issues have become evident and reported daily by tourist operators (the honest ones), by environmental associations and by ordinary citizens”.
“Hoping, however, that the interventions prepared will be timely – he adds – but above all aimed at definitively resolving the sea pollution issue, we would like to underline the need to verify the conformity of all purification plants (and lifting pumps), from Paola to Vibo, including those of companies that until a few years ago, because they were not connected to the purifier, spilled everything into the canals that flowed into the sea. Added to this is the need to control the river mouths a discussion on all the municipalities that are not connected to the public sewer system, with the aim of understanding where they discharge and the actions to be taken in this regard, also not forgetting the impact that a polluted sea has on the health of citizens, “United for the Gulf of S.Eufemia”, on behalf of all the associations, will remain vigilant on what will happen in the coming months and will be ready to report to the competent authorities any dysfunctions that become apparent”.
