“We want to redeem the result of Race 1”

It was a bitter result for the Molfetta Women’s team in Game 1 of the Scudetto quarter-finals. A heavy deficit that was certainly not in the expectations of the Apulian team both in terms of performances and the results of the previous matches with Montesilvano.
It’s impossible not to underline how the experiential gap between the two teams, in moments like this of the season, is great. But it cannot be an excuse according to Martina Caputo. “We came to the match trying to give our best to obtain a positive result” – comments the young soccer player. “It’s not a given – she continues – to be able to play in the championship play-offs, even if it was one of our objectives. But we deserved it, game after game, point after point. We have already achieved great things this season.

It’s true that there is inexperience from this point of view, but the difficult result is not what we imagined nor what we want to replicate.” Indeed, number 15 seems to state bluntly: “Initially we managed to maintain a good level of play, I think then both physical and mental energy faded. It was an important lesson for everyone. We must undoubtedly give credit to Montesilvano who manages to bring out the best when the games get tougher. It is a characteristic that has always distinguished them. But we want to redeem ourselves. We are not happy with the result of the first leg.

Fortunately, tomorrow we will have the opportunity again to replicate and do better. We will give everything to prove that we don’t deserve the result of race 1. Indeed – she adds determinedly – by managing to play a better match and giving life to a high-level performance, the objective is precisely to take the series to game 3. As long as we’re dancing, we want to dance.”

A choreography, that of Serie A which for Martina Caputo was the real novelty of the year. “It was the first experience in the top flight for me and I can only consider myself lucky. I have the privilege of playing and training every day with high-level players who have allowed me to improve a lot in terms of football but, above all, on a personal level, each one has contributed to making me grow as a person. Everyone in this society has taught me something. In terms of results – Caputo analyzes – it was a year worth remembering.

Being able to qualify for the Final Eight and the championship play-offs in my first experience is not a given and I am very happy about this. For me, however, this cannot be a point of arrival – she declares – but only a starting point. My goal is to always be able to get the most out of myself and to always be happy.
